Ensemble Discovery is creating breakthrough classes of drugs and bioassays based on its proprietary DNA-Programmed Chemistry™ (DPC™) platform. Using DPC, Ensemble has built a product platform that will support the development of novel classes of therapeutics and bioassays for research and diagnostics.

Ensemble was founded in 2004 by Flagship Ventures and David Liu, the inventor of DPC, a Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University, and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator. DPC exerts precise control of chemical reactivity allowing our scientists to program chemical reactions. Ensemble uses DPC to develop Programmed Macrocycles™ as drug candidates and to generate detection signals at the core of our Programmed Bioassays™ of protein functional status.

Ensemble holds an exclusive, worldwide license from Harvard University to the fundamental intellectual property covering DPC. Since the founding of the company, Ensemble has industrialized the technology and established a dominant intellectual property portfolio covering the technology, including issued patents in the US and Europe. 

Ensemble has assembled an experienced management team with backgrounds in technology and product development in the pharmaceutical and diagnostic industries plus a strong set of investors including Flagship Ventures, ARCH Venture Partners, Oxford Bioscience Partners, CMEA Ventures, Harris and Harris Group, and Boston University.
