Partnering/Strategic AlliancesPartnering is an essential element of our business model. Interested companies can access our technology and expertise through R&D collaborations and licensing arrangements. Ensemble currently has collaborative partnerships with Bristol-Myers Squbb and Pfizer and in 2006 became the first commercial partner of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.Ensemble is actively seeking collaborations around its Ensemblin™ platforms for the discovery and development of novel therapeutics. For our therapeutics program, we have two principal partnering models:
Our alliance with BMS is addressing eight high-value targets and was signed in April 2009. Ensemble is deploying its Ensemblin platforms in an exclusive relationship against each of those targets and the parties are collaborating on the development of pharmaceutical leads. BMS has the exclusive right to develop and commercialize products arising from the research program. Our alliance with Pfizer was announced on 1/6/10 and is addressing a number of commercially valuable protein-protein interaction targets. The alliance is an exclusive collaboration with respect to those targets. The parties will collaborate on the discovery of leads against those targets and Pfizer will develop the molecules through the clinic and commercialize them. For our biodetection program, we have one active partnering model: Ensemble is actively seeking licensees for its ERBB functional diagnostic assays and is considering licenses to pharmaceutical companies for development of the assays as companion diagnostics and to diagnostic companies for the development of diagnostic products and services.
